Welcome home. That's how we feel about Grassy Creek Presbyterian Church — it's a home for all who enter. Grassy Creek Presbyterian is well over 100 years old, having been formally organized on March 20, 1911, with the Rev. John A. Harris. Like many small churches it was founded by families here in the area and many of those families continue to participate in the life of the church. It is through the faithfulness of past and present generations that Grassy Creek has a stable foundation, rooted in the love of Jesus.
Our average attendance in worship is around 25, and while we are a small church we remain actively engaged in the ministry of the church and serving the local community. We are a yoked congregation with Newdale Presbyterian Church and we often share in projects, worship, and service.
We are also members of the Mayland Fellowship which is comprised of the Presbyterian churches in Avery, Mitchell, and Yancey Counties. As a fellowship we meet together about 4 times a year as well as for the week of Lent. The Mayland Fellowships mission is to raise money for scholarships for needy students who are college bound.
We Worship… We Share… We Serve… Seeking to be faithful disciples of Jesus, who calls us to continue the reconciling work that was begun in and through His life and ministry to the Glory of God! Worshiping with joyous hearts, sharing the stories of faith and promise, moving out into the community to serve and share the Good News of God’s love for all His Creation.
