Yes, that's correct, plural pastors. We have Jim Taylor who is our Worship Pastor while Bobby Justus is our Pastor for Visitation.
Jim Taylor is a graduate of the School for the Laity which is provided by the Presbytery of Western North Carolina. He is also faculty emeriti of Lees-McRae College where he taught for 30 years in the Performing Arts Department. He lives in Banner Elk with his wife Anna and their dogs and cats. He has 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters and feels so blessed to be living in these beautiful mountains and to be able to serve these churches.
Bobby Justus, serves as our Parish Visitor. He attended the School for the Laity of Presbytery of Western North Carolina. Served six years as chaplain with Mitchell County Law Enforcement. Holds Senior Chaplain Credentials with International Conference of Police Chaplains. Served six years as chaplain for Blue Ridge Memorial Hospital with two years serving as Lead Chaplain.
The Presbyterian Church is committed to education on several fronts. Here in the West North Carolina Presbytery we have the School of Church Leadership (formerly known as the School for the Laity). While the school is the gateway for becoming a Commissioned Lay Pastor (AKA a commissioned ruling elder), others interested in learning more about our faith also attend. Find out more by clicking here
